The olfactory element to S.ense of Cellf: The DnA Factory
I was commissioned to create two distinct smells to reflect the working and exhibition practice of The DnA Factory creating an interesting olfactory juxtaposition between studio and gallery space.
One smell was dispersed in the studio replication in the centre of the exhibition, which was very chemical and industrial. The other, which was essentially Bubble-gum, was used to fill the rest of the retrospective exhibition area.
To enhance the experience I also produced my first bottled olfactory art. The fragrance, History of DnA, was designed to capture the essence and complexities of this dynamic art force, with each note telling a story of its’ own, slowly unfolding, as unique and individual as the artists themselves. Created exclusively for S.ense of Cellf: 25 year anniversary exhibition by The DnA Factory.
